The first stop was a van with five illegal immigrants inside on Interstate 17 near New River Road.
The van’s driver led deputies to a west Phoenix home with four illegal immigrants inside, a handgun and business ledgers for human trafficking.
Eight more people were arrested at I-17 and Anthem Way during a traffic stop and deputies were able to find a drophouse associated with the suspects in the West Valley.
Deputies arrested 35 illegal immigrants at the home.
All of the arrests came on the same day a lawyer for the Sheriff’s Office wrote a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano complaining that the federal government broke a promise that deputies could work under an existing agreement to enforce immigration law. DHS has forced local police agencies with the agreements to sign new, more restrictive ones within the next three months.
Agents with the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement refused to take 13 illegal immigrants during a crime sweep over the weekend targeting illegal immigrants.

i think it is great that these illegal,criminals were arrested,and i agree with kize,i also wish there were more illegals arrested. i am so sick of these criminals who move here and not speak english and get free health care and pop out loads of kids and then get wic. it is ridiculous that these uneducated people keep coming here and not trying to asimilate. there is no reason why i should speak spanish,i am a legal american citizen who pays taxes and has insurance and lives the correct way. i don’t agree with human trafficking though,in any country. i am glad the people got arrested though,they need to clean up their own country.
They are just trying to destroy all the Sheriff Joe’s out there. The ones who are doing their jobs and enforcing the laws. She is just showing that she never did anything for AZ and now she is going to do the same for U.S.
She is a joke for a politician. Napolitano should go back into the closet.
I think it is fantastic!! I just wish there would have been more rounded up! Every thing about the presence of these illegal aliens bothers me!!
I can guarantee an american picked my tomatoes etc… and it is a fact that most illegal aliens had jobs in their own countries and gave them up, it is criminal to come here and feed your kids if you are an illegal, what part of that is hard for illegal aliens to understand!
what is there to think about? Illegal immigration is a serious problem in the USA, and human trafficking is a serious crime.
What should we think about it? They were breaking the law and they were arrested.
Criminals often have guns. I’m not MORE concerned because its an immigration issue.

For those 35 arrested in Phoenix, I hope hundreds came through in El Paso.
Well atleast I’m glad that the drug traffickers in durango mexico bringing drugs here in the u.s and shooting ol ya white raci$t trailer trashes popping pill red necks like u! Ya gon see how we roll better than the nazis!!

Three points to view here
One – Since when was feeding your hungry children and taking care of your family make you a Criminal ?
Two- True that most people that come here are in fact from central and south America country’s that are in the worst shape when it comes to taking care of there citizens.So does this i don’t need to speak spanish statement only directed to these people?
Three-But if you think about it can you aspire to more if you don’t know what your missing your miss informed and altogether put down ? that is the case as to y people have so many kids and end up depending on wic not that they do it on purpose as this statement would imply .I will not say that there are certain people that take advantage of these people who are in fact like children very gullible and often end up kidnapped or worse so before you make such statements please do yourself and everyone els around you a favor and keep it to yourself . As for the other’s avoiding the reality and just brushing away the issue when it comes up evey time wont help remember someone s picking the tomatoes and other produce you just had for dinner and trust me it wasn’t the legal tax paying American citizen farmer that did all the work
